The biggest city in Spain is Madrid, which has a population of over 3.2 million. The next largest city, Barcelona, has approximately half as many residents as Madrid, but at 1.6 million, this is still impressive for a city population. These are the only two cities in Spain that have populations exceeding one million. In addition to the two largest cities, there are three cities in Spain that have a population of 500,000 or more people as its shown in the map of Spain with major cities. Valencia has nearly 800,000 residents. Zaragoza and Seville both have a population of approximately 700,000 residents. Malaga houses nearly 560,000 residents. However, that does not mean that there are not other large cities in the country. There are 88 countries that have populations that fall between 100,000 and 1,000,000, and an impressive 707 cities with populations exceeding 10,000. These cities are spread among Spain 50 provinces.

Murcia is the 7th largest city in Spain with a population of more than 436 000 people. It is located in south-eastern Spain and was founded already in 825. Murcia has a long agricultural tradition where lots of fruit and vegetables, as well as flowers, are being grown and exported. Palma is the capital and the largest city in the Balearic islands with a population of more than 400 000 people as its mentioned in the map of Spain with major cities. Palma Airport also serves as a gateway to the island of Mallorca and receives over 29 million passengers per year. Las Palmas is the largest city in the Canary Islands and has been a transportation hub since colonial times. Today, Las Palmas is home to the famous beach Las Canteras, which has been named as one of the best city beaches in the world.
 
Bilbao is the largest city in Basque Country, and it was previously known as an industrial city. However, today it is more famous for art and culture where visitors can, for example, visit the Guggenheim Museum. Alicante has a population of 334,757 people as you can see in the map of Spain with major cities, it is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Europe and serves as the gateway to Costa Blanca, and the city is also known for its boulevards filled with palm trees and shopping as well as its old town. Cordoba is one of the largest cities in Andalusia, and the city is famous for its Moorish architecture and historic center. Cordoba is also known for picturesque streets and quality of leather products. Valladolid is the capital of the autonomous community of Castile and León, and it was founded in 1072.
