Spain temperature map
Map of Spain temperature. Spain temperature map (Southern Europe - Europe) to print. Spain temperature map (Southern Europe - Europe) to download. The climate of Spain is extremely varied. The northern coastal regions are cool and humid, with an average annual temperature of 14° C (57° F ); temperatures at Bilbao range from an average of 10° C (50° F ) in January–March to 19° C (66° F ) during July– September. The central plateau is cold in the winter and hot in the summer; Madrid has a winter average of about 8° C (46° F ) and a summer average of 23° C (73° F ) as its shown in Spain temperature map. In Andalucía and the Levante, the climate is temperate except in summer, when temperatures sometimes reach above 40° C (104° F ) in the shade. The northern coastal regions have an average annual rainfall of 99 cm (39 in); the southern coastal belt has 41–79 cm (16–31 in); and the interior central plain averages no more than 50 cm (20 in) annually.
In the southern inland regions, in the lower areas of Extremadura (see Badajoz) and in the interior of Andalusia, summer is very hot: Seville and Córdoba are actually the hottest cities in Europe, and this area is like a piece of Africa in Europe. In summer, the temperatures often reach 38/40 °C (100/104 °F), and sometimes up to 45 °C (113 °F) as its mentioned in Spain temperature map. While in the Costa Brava (see Lloret de Mar) and in Barcelona the average temperature in January is about 8/9 °C (46/48 °F), continuing to the south it becomes milder, and already in Valencia it exceeds 10 °C (50 °F). In Madrid, the temperature easily reaches 35/36 °C (95/97 °F), and sometimes as high as 40 °C (104 °F).
The sea in the small portion of the south-west overlooking the Atlantic Ocean (Costa de la Luz, see Cádiz) is even cooler. The ocean temperature reaches only 21 °C (70 °F) in August and September, even though the weather is hot and sunny. In Seville, which is characterized by a particularly long and hot summer, the best months are May, October and April, when the maximum temperature can already exceed 25 °C (77 °F) with some ease as you can see in Spain temperature map. In the plateau, the summer days are often scorching, with highs well above 30 °C (86 °F), but thanks to the altitude, nights are pretty cool, and on the other hand, moisture is low, so the heat is more bearable.
